Natalia Oreiro has been confirmed as the protagonist of the movie “El rosario de los Andes” by the productions companies in Uruguay (U Films) and Argentina (FAM Contenidos).

The film is based on the book of the same name written by Madelón Rodríguez Gómez, grandmother of Carlitos Paez Vilaró, one of the 16 survivors of the plane crash and the subsequent 72 days in the mountain range. The adaptation was directed by the Uruguayan filmmaker Horacio Reyes Paéz and the Argentine director Agustina Macri, who has just directed the series ‘Limbo’ for Star+. The direction will be headed by Horacio Reyes Paéz himself, nephew of Carlitos Paez Vilaró and grandson of Madelón Rodríguez Gómez. Unlike other films that have been made about the tragedy of the Andes, ‘El Rosario de Los Andes’ will focus on what the families of the injured young people experienced.

Storyline: Madelón is a mother who tirelessly searches for her lost son in the mountains after the plane crash in the Andes Mountains in 1972. Without ever giving up, she is the protagonist of one of the most impressive survival stories of the 20th century.
