For days now, there has been a stir in the media about a video that was taken with Natalia Oreiro and her family when she was out walking with her husband and son on Sunday at the market where a fan took a video of her in the face and especially as far as her son is concerned, she does not want him to be exposed in the media. She refused to take photos and she encouraged her husband to do the same. That is why she made a statement about the incident through her Instagram account.

Here is Natalia’s statement. Below is the video.

“First and foremost, I think it’s incredibly important to have the freedom to say what you want to do: saying no isn’t wrong, and not being available for someone else’s wishes isn’t your problem, but rather, at most, the other person’s. My partner and I were out for a Sunday stroll like any other family. Sometimes I forget that we’re not just any family, but I wish we could be, sometimes to have the freedom to be able to stroll like anyone else. A lot of people started gathering. And suddenly, someone started filming me very closely without asking permission, and I was with my son next to me, and that situation was extremely uncomfortable for me. I don’t like him being filmed, I don’t like him being shared or uploaded to social media. He’s a minor, and he doesn’t choose to do this. I asked them to please stop doing this. And that person kept putting the phone very close to me, and there were more and more people. I’m sorry it wasn’t understood. I’m sorry if it caused a bit of controversy. I think I’ve always been a very grateful person for what I’ve had to live through, and I try to act accordingly to what I’ve chosen as a livelihood. That doesn’t mean I’m available all the time, because I’m also an ordinary person with an extraordinary job. I like things to be as enjoyable as a normal family, and when I’m with my son, I don’t like being invaded. If that wasn’t understood, I’m very sorry, but I think it’s incredibly important to respect someone’s refusal to accede to another person’s wishes.”
