Natalia Oreiro was tributed as a Fashion Icon to the Martin Fierro Awards of the Fashion yesterday night and received the award for Best Female Fashion Icon. For this occasion she chose a dress in silver covered with metallic, fitted to the body and with a halter neckline which was also covered her head. She complemented the look with matching gloves and sandals. The dress was made with more than 30,000 metal rings and more than 200 hours of work. The idea came from Natalia and her stylist, Luli Gemelli, who contacted Aldana de Ghoda, from Uruguay, to create the piece.

“Thank you very much for this recognition. The first image I remember is me at 8 years old, sitting in front of my grandmother’s sewing machine. Then at 12, when as a young girl I wanted to be fashionable and there was no economic possibility at home, I began to study cutting and sewing to make my clothes; sheets, curtains, quilts, nothing was safe from my scissors. Today, I am grateful for those beginnings, because they forged my creative personality. And a personal search to not wear a uniform. Because having style is that: it is having personality, and it is non-transferable. Fashion is an expression and there is nothing frivolous about it. Those who create are artisans, they are architects, they are artists. Thanks to all the designers who have accompanied me throughout my career. I would like to highlight today and always the joint work of: Makeup artists, hairdressers, stylists, photographers. They are all an indispensable part of the final result. Let’s celebrate Argentine fashion!!”
